The Birch is a welcoming two-bed children’s home situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. We provide a safe, nurturing and homely environment where children and young people receive individualised care and support, particularly where they have experienced trauma or adverse life experiences. Our approach is therapeutic and child-centred, recognising that every young person has their own needs, strengths and goals. Through consistent relationships, personalised support and carefully planned experiences, we aim to help children feel safe, develop confidence and make positive progress. Children at The Birch can also benefit from therapeutic opportunities, including off-site Equine Therapy at one of our other homes, The Grange. Our staff are trained in Empathic Behaviour Management (EBM) and work using the principles of PACE – Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy. This helps our team understand the needs behind a young person’s behaviour and respond in a supportive, compassionate and therapeutic way. We also work collaboratively with psychology professionals and other agencies to provide joined-up support, helping each child achieve the best possible outcomes and reach their individual potential.
